Restoration and Renovation of Brecknock Hall

In 2005, we began the restoration and renovation of  Brecknock Hall by replacing the corbels (the decorative brackets under the roof overhang), painting the exterior and sealing the roof. Inside, we began the long job of cleaning, scraping and repairing the walls and ceilings. We completed the two parlors in December and we held a reception for the donors, even though we lacked heat. In the Spring of 2006, volunteers  tackled the heavily damaged ceiling of the dining room, inventing a stabilizing system that "tacked" the separated plaster to the 3" X 10" oak beams. The excellent results have encouraged the volunteers to redouble their efforts and the repair of entry hall ceiling has begun.
